In the year since their inception, Cassette have been quick to win interest and acclaim from many sources. 2007 sees them bring their live set to the stages of London.

Formed with the intention of creating sublime ‘electro with soul’, Cassette inject the genre with their own unique mix of melody and driving beats, drawing comparisons with electro forbears Kraftwerk, Fischer Spooner and Ladytron...

Oli Freke founded dance label Medikal Records and is an experienced composer/arranger/producer. His release Radium, on Impact Records, made Radio 1's Essential Selection. Lucy Bugiel, vocalist and songwriter, provide the luxurious vocal sound and proves that beats ain’t nothing without strong and original melodies.

Together they fuse their influences to create fresh sounding indie-electro.

The tracks on this page go from the steely electro of unrequited desire in ‘The Smartest Bomb’, through the back-to-basics synth pop of ‘Friend or Foe’ and then on to ‘Voyager', a smooth slice of electro-disco.

Also included is Cassette's first white label release - a re-working of Erasure’s ‘A Little Respect’. Oli & Lucy: 'We believe that a cover should provide a fresh look at a song, rather than just rehashing its components. We loved the original for its catchy pop vibe but this actually conceals what a bloody heart-breaking song it is; we wanted to bring out a bit more of the emotion beneath the sequins in our version.'
