CraigH Rec'd this on Oct 27, 2009:
Street Cred: 11097 Rec's: 500
“A deft vocal touch serves this hit well, as does the jazz keys and sensibility.”
CraigH Rec'd this on Oct 27, 2009:
Street Cred: 11097 Rec's: 500
“The informality of the take just enhances the easy, lyrical quality of the song, and the dusky, fully-matured voice of a great singer.”
jwhit Rec'd this on Oct 26, 2009:
Street Cred: 1714 Rec's: 94
“Still a great song. And its not only about kepcup.”
sharonshay Rec'd this on Oct 26, 2009:
Street Cred: 2555 Rec's: 185
“Obviously a well-known song, this remake is nice. It still has that old-time, easy-listening feel to it, but it has a modern flavor as well.”
CraigH Rec'd this on Oct 27, 2009:
Street Cred: 11097 Rec's: 500
“You know there's no possible way for Carly not to do this one right. No, it doesn't sound like Mick made it onto the backup vocals this time, but the mystery lives on nevertheless. "And one of them was me" still delivers the hook, and "clouds in my coffee" are as they should be. Worth a serious listen for sure.”
sharonshay Rec'd this on Oct 26, 2009:
Street Cred: 2555 Rec's: 185
“I don't think I've ever heard the original, if that's possible. Anyway, I really like this... the tune, her voice, the sentiments, the emotion....”
CraigH Rec'd this on Oct 27, 2009:
Street Cred: 11097 Rec's: 500
“This one made her, and it's fascinating to go so far back into her catalog for the update. It's richer and sadder for all that we know sits behind the lyric now. Amazing.”
jwhit Rec'd this on Oct 26, 2009:
Street Cred: 1714 Rec's: 94
“After all these years we still don't know who she's singing about.”
CraigH Rec'd this on Oct 27, 2009:
Street Cred: 11097 Rec's: 500
“Still with the stones to deliver "fix the toaster" without a wince. Never one of her best, but no less than it ever was when it ran up the charts.”
CraigH Rec'd this on Oct 27, 2009:
Street Cred: 11097 Rec's: 500
“Rearranged, there are whole new dimensions of the classic to discover.”
