“The concept behind this album is to have different artists each do a track based on one of the ten plagues visited on the land of Egypt in the biblical book of Exodus. The only genuine Brian Eno music available from Amie St. so far (I don't count the remix of Ascent: An Ending), this track begins with some warm, dreamy ambient music overlaid by buzzing sounds that resemble, apropos the name, a swarm of flies. The buzzing is actually muted enough that the music can still be enjoyed. The later half of the song features vocals, though it still maintains a quiet ambient vibe. Worth checking out for Eno fans and lovers of dreamy ambient type music. ”

“Though not listed as such here, Plague Songs is a various artists compilation and "Darkness" is actually by Scott Walker. Backed by the distant steady shaking of a lone tambourine, Walker's characteristically lugubrious and theatrical voice engages in a bit of call-and-response with the hysterical shrieks of a sort of avant-garde gospel choir. "And when do we go? And when do we go? And when do we go?" "Getcher coat." A bit frightening. Best track on a mostly disappointing album.”
