From above the footlights, BLAMMOS’ lead song-and-dance man Arthur Adams often introduces the band’s music as “a variety of song styles, performed in the popular tradition.” Although it may seem vague, this arcane suggestion neatly sums up the breadth and scope of the music they choose to write and perform. With four-part harmonies bouncing over brightly sung melodies that often mask dark and angry lyrics, Adams and his cohorts shine whether they’re on the stage or in the studio. Their clever arrangements evoke the spirit and ingenuity of recording sessions of yore, as they carefully mold each song into its most essential, vibrant and, above all, entertaining form.

BLAMMOS first came to life in San Francisco in late 2003 as a solo alias and has gone through many permutations, before settling into the current lineup—a tight and energetic four-piece, featuring Joelle Jaffe as the resident chanteuse and keyboardist, Tim Marcus playing the role of inventive, groovy bassist, and David Stockhausen tapping, bashing and pummeling the skins. The BLAMMOS sound has graced many first-class stages across the country, including Sin-e and The Living Room in New York, The Hideout in Chicago and The Dirty Dog in Austin, as well as numerous Northern California music halls.
In early 2006, after releasing their debut LP, “It can*t be true” and in between three national tours, they began creating their own music videos, and have since produced six, including the award-winning “Girl of My Dreams.” A DVD, including all six videos plus live concert footage is slated to be released in late 2007, accompanying the release of their sophomore LP. The lead single from the upcoming LP, “How do you know?” b/w “We’ll be free; We ARE free!” hit the internet in late May, and can be purchased exclusively at BLAMMOS shows.
