About The Night Before

Bazooka Jill started as little more than a bored conversation between two friends as they waited in line at the airport in Dallas, almost three years ago. They were talking about ways to spend the money they would make working that summer, and buying the instruments to start a rock band must have seemed like the most logical thing to do. Surprisingly enough, their plans held through the summer, and in August, 2005, they purchased their first instruments and the band that would come to be Bazooka Jill met for the first time.

Several months later, after being joined by their current guitarist, Sean Trauth, they would officially name themselves Bazooka Jill after a stick of gum one of them was chewing in the midst of writing one of their first songs. Even in these early stages there was an apparent chemistry amongst the members of the band, a comfort and lightheartedness that allowed them to work without the typical hassles and control battles so many bands experience.

Two years, two cds, and innumerable gigs later, Bazooka Jill is better than ever and improving. Though our love for what we do plays a huge factor in our success, we must also look to our work ethic. We have taken every aspect of the promotion, production, and management of this band into our own hands and with the utmost resolve. We book our own shows, manage our budget, create and market our merchandise. We wrote, recorded, and produced our most recent CD, The Night Before, which should release in mid February, entirely on our own (with the exception of a few gifted artists whose talents we tapped into in the hopes of creating something extraordinary). For many of us, Bazooka Jill is what we are going to try and turn into the rest of our lives. We understand, perhaps better than most our age, some of the difficulties and risks of the business of entertainment and popular music, but we are learning every day.

“I would also suggest buying this song, if you would like to hear a different kind of music from BJ. This one us just guitar and really Jazzy. It's nice and mellow and really let's you relax. Another great song!”

“Decent blues-based rock in the tradition of Thin Lizzy, Zeppelin, etc. Great guitar based tune; vocals are good as well. ”

“Oh man, these guys are great. Not only do they play rock really well, like Led Zeppelin, but they also play Blues extremely well. Snakebite is a must buy for anyone who wants to jam to some old school blues!”
