About Coming Home

This album is about living outside any expectations or limitations that people put on music. it is not about an effort to counter these things, but simply an effort to be me and to enjoy a creativity that God has instilled in me.

my best friend and husband once told me to play for myself. being an artist, he reminded me is about expressing who you are in those deep places only expressible through art. my songs are a sacred communion between myself and God; a conversation that I invite listeners into. you may draw upon your own emotions and provoke your own thoughts as you, the listener, look upon my heart on display. if i write for something other than my own heart, i will fail at creating art. these words that i record in song will only fulfill their role as art and an expression of emotion if they reflect honesty. these songs - this music - is a notebook of what goes on inside of me . . . a piece of who i am.

working on this album has been a wonderful experience. i have been amazed at the number of people it takes to create an album. it has been a blessing to work with such talented musicians and creative minds. thank you to everyone who has been a part of developing this album. this project could not have succeeded if it were not for a certain handful of people who were willing to give their time and energy. this album was truly a group effort.

i hope that the honesty, emotion, and passion that went into this album comes through in the music. i believe now more than ever that music is a gift from God. it touches emotions like few other things can. it can encourage, sadden, frustrate, and inspire. i hope that my music provokes such emotion in you as it has in us and ultimately points to the vast creativity of our God.

autumn rose
