About Andy Dolson

In October of 2004, Andy Dolson launched his solo career taking his catchy vocal melodies and acoustic rhythms all over North East Ohio. Two months later, Dolson traveled to Nashville to meet with professional producer and engineer Mitch Dane (Jars of Clay). During the brief encounter the two hit it off, and before he left, Andy and Mitch made plans to work together. They will begin recording a six track EP in August, which Dane will then market to various record labels.
"I was very impressed with Andy's demo, and felt his voice and style were very malleable for a producer like myself," Dane said. "His demo had great melodies and song structure and to top it off his personality was great. He has great potential to be incredibly successful in his music career."
The song that sold Dane on his music was "Maybe This Time." Dolson wrote the song in late November and began playing it at his shows. It was at one of these shows that professional audio music engineer Sean Larson fell in love with Dolson's music.
Following the show, Larson offered to work with the musician to develop and record the song at dreamSTATE studios in Akron. The two met early one morning and produced what is now Dolson's number one single by late afternoon.
"Andy did everything," Larson said. "He brought a bass player with him, but he played everything else."
Dolson's musical influences are wide ranging and include artists from several genres and eras. His favorite bands in recent years have been Ben Folds Five and Switchfoot. Though it is difficult to draw stylistic comparisons between him and any artist, Dolson's music sometimes reflects his current listening habits.
Over the past few months, Dolson, with the help of fellow musician and friend Jonathan Penn, has loaded his schedule with local performances, often times playing three to five times a week while still maintaining his status as a full time student.
"Music is a way for me to share a part of myself and connect with people on a personal level," he said. "I want to get my music out there, and for people to share in my passion."
With the support of family and friends, Dolson plans to go wherever his music leads him.
