Software Engineer

Job Description:

Amie Street is looking for a multi-faceted software engineer who enjoys working on a wide range of projects. The problems an Amie Street engineer is expected to solve run the gamut from feature development on the principal retail site to systems applications of how to organize and store millions of song files to implementing feedback and recommendation systems. A successful applicant will be able to quickly cycle between varied projects and be willing to continuously learn new technologies and skills.

Requirements:

  • Creative problem solving skills.
  • Experience with web application design (HTML, CSS, JS)
  • 4 year college degree (BA or BS) or equivalent.
  • Strong ability to work and manage resources independently.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with some Linux distribution (Debian preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of PHP, Perl, Python, or Ruby
  • Love for music!

Bonus Points

  • Knowledge of Java and Perl.
  • Knowledge of scale-out technologies/techniques (memcached, MogileFS, sharding)
  • Systems/database programming experience.

Job Description:

Amie Street is looking for a Visual Designer to help extend the Amie Street brand.  This position is unique and demanding to the extent that it requires understanding of both web and graphic design principles.  This intersection of skill sets will have you working closely with Business Development and Marketing staff as well as Software and User Experience Engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Team up with our development team to create new features and improve existing ones
  • Develop advertising concepts and produce promotional materials
  • Translate concept mocks into clean XHTML and CSS templates
  • Create interface prototypes and design proposals

Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of print design, layout, and color theory
  • Advanced skill in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, & Flash
  • Advanced knowledge of CSS and XHTML
  • Love for music!

Bonus Points

  • Proficiency with PHP, Javascript, and template languages
  • Published illustration & print work
  • Familiarity with paper prototyping, rapid prototyping, and iterative design
  • Experience working with version control systems like Subversion and Adobe Version Cue
