To solve this issue, check to see if the song or album is in the correct place.
iTunes has a setting to import music into its own directory, this setting may be enabled by clicking the "Advanced" tab in "Preferences" (under the "File" menu in Windows, under the "iTunes" menu in OS X).
If you prefer to manage your own music library and store it in a separate directory, be sure to place your music in the proper location before importing it.
