Dear Amie Street community,

Today we are releasing the entire Sony Music catalog!

Tens of thousands of incredible albums are now available for you to download. From popular artists like Kings of Leon, Beyoncé, Outkast, and Dave Matthews Band, to up-and-coming acts like MGMT, The Ting Tings, and Peter Bjorn and John, to some of the most important albums of all-time from Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Carole King, Bob Dylan and Miles Davis – Amie Street has just added a ton of great music!

To help you get started, we’ve created a special section on Amie Street, highlighting just a small sample of the great artists, both old and new, that have just been released. This includes dozens of classic albums that have been discounted to $4.99 just for Amie Street members.

Our mission at Amie Street is to connect you with music you’ll love, which is why we are thrilled to now have this vast catalog of world-class artists. In both quantity and quality, the amount of music for you to discover and download has increased dramatically, and so has our ability to give you better music recommendations.

The songs in the Sony catalog will be priced at $.69, $.99 and $1.29, not dynamically like the rest of the music on Amie Street. All the music you download on Amie Street, including Sony’s, is still iPod compatible DRM-free MP3s, meaning you can play it on any device and transfer it among multiple computers.

We know this is a big change, and we’re confident that it will make Amie Street a better place for you to discover, download, and share new music. We spent hundreds of hours asking members of the Amie Street community whether this kind of catalog belonged on the site, and for most of you the answer was a definite Yes.

You generously shared with us your thoughts and suggestions, and the overwhelming majority of you told us that you wanted Amie Street to have catalogs like Sony’s, even if the music did not start free and increase in price. You told us that it was more important to have access to all the music you might want, rather than excluding it because it wasn’t priced dynamically.

Many of you also told us that the best part of Amie Street is being able to easily find new music you never would have found otherwise. That is not going to change. It’s only going to get better.

Since our start in college dorm rooms three years ago, Amie Street has developed and grown as a decidedly collaborative effort, and your feedback gives us faith that this will make Amie Street a better service.

So please don’t hesitate to give us your thoughts on the release or suggestions for how we can make the site better in general. We depend on your input and greatly appreciate all your support.

Enjoy the music!

The Amie Street Team
