Key Tracks:
Hate it when ya gotta pick just one track ta give a rec to an oven-full of tasty biscuits. Then again, Tear it To Pieces Girl makes it a piece o' pie. Great record." [rec by CraigH]
This is a great song with some really good guitar work. songs like these can be ruined by bad singers, but this guy is great." [rec by thfc1]
Big Star inspired, strokesesque melodic pop punk brilliance that seems to have the whole NY nod to Brit indie thing going on. Probably end up hearinh this on a teen slasher movie of whatever comes after the OC, or even a celebratory escape pary in Prison Break." [rec by sable6]
vaguely Who-like, Dirty Bomb's "Take Care Of Us" features the Faces' own Ian "Mac" McLagan on keys and shows the Spangles in top rocking form. More please." [rec by howard thompson]
Dave Ody brings Modern Power-Pop to Amie Street
It's not every day that a new artist gets compared to The Beatles... ok, it is everyday. We all know that the fab-four have had a lot of influence on other peoples' music, but it's very rare to hear an artist like Dave Ody whose music clearly stems from The Beatles and also manages to have a distinctive original sound.
Key Tracks:
'Care about us' stood out straight away with a great structure both vocally and musically. Slightly haunting, definitely sombre and well worth my recommendation. I hope Dave Ody does really well. Wonderful messy ending!" [rec by fivefoil]
A sort of moodernized Beatles pop. If the Beatles had an illegitamate love child with the Smithereens, they'd sing this song." [rec by ribarnica]
I don't know exactly what to say in this review -- definitely a standout from the album, it's got a Beatles feel to it but isn't really done in a Beatles style, keeps it moving right along... " [rec by diapostola]
Catchy, upbeat and a great slice of indie/guitar pop. Keeps bouncing round my head without prior permission." [rec by AnxiousSilence]
