Spotlight: the dotmatrix project

August 30th, 2008

Based in Greensboro, NC, the dotmatrix project is a collective of "musicians, artists, filmmakers, photographers, web geeks and sound guys who dig live music." Their tech savvy and garage-rock ethos compliment each other like pizza and champagne, resulting in ultra high-quality recordings of excellent local indie musicians. We've featured their work before on AmieTV, and look forward to a bright future of collaboration.

In their words:

Our philosophy is that with the web being the web, distribution of sounds, images and stories to the masses outside the area is right at our fingertips, so why not take advantage?

After each show, we upload our music to Amie Street & Last.fm, our videos to YouTube and Vimeo and our photographs to flickr.

If you dig the concept, please check out our media. It's all free, but if you want to drop coin directly in the pockets of musicians, here's a promo entrance to Amie Street, which will give you enough credit to buy a few albums.

Hope to see you at a show.

Rock.

Rock indeed. If you're a fan of live music and upcoming acts, this is a no-brainer. For a taste, here's their latest video, featuring Dawn Chorus performing Play Button Oh Please (live @ DMP) :

Check back often for their Amie Street albums, as they update every time there's a new show!
