RECs of the Week
March 30th, 2008
(I'm new here. What is a REC?)
THE GOOGLE ME BABY REC
She plays a kalimba (I learned this by googling her). It sounds like a cross between a xylophone and a harp. Her story songs are interesting and confounding, familiar yet alien-sounding. Fans of Joanna Newsom should check her out.
THE NICE FIND REC
THE HOT TOWN, SUMMER IN THE CITY REC
“Nothin' in the World Can Stop Me Worryin' Bout Tha” by

Great vocals and harmonies. Love the overall sound. Kinda reminds 70's rock. I imagine this as part of a movie sound track... maybe the opening song....big old caddy convertable driving down the highway on a hot summer nights day.
THE RUN DON'T WALK! REC
You would never know this was a Japanese Rock band, because they sing perfectly in English. Fast-paced punk/pop-rock that hasn't been duplicated in the US in the past few years. Instead of following the "emo-pop" trend, they stick to good old-fashioned pop-rock similar to blink-182 and Yellowcard.
If you're a fan of ANY pop/punk-rock, GET BOTH CDS, NOW!
THE TWO YEARS IN THE MAKING REC
Through an artist on Amie Street when the site was young I first heard of Blockhead. This was the song that was sent to me. I've been waiting for this moment to REC this one track for almost 2 years and it's finally here. Insomniac Olympics is AMAZING. REC REC REC REC REC dammit REC'd!!!!
THE SOMEONE'S GOTTA BE THE FIRST REC
Wow. Don't know why this has no RECs yet. Really enjoyed this. very soft intro. Overall a nice instrumental. Good piano work. One of my faves form the album
THE NAY, IT IS A GREAT THING REC

Catchy tune. Download it so you can practice for the Rock Band video game.
THE HOW DID WE EVER MISS THIS ALBUM? REC
Unbelievably strong piece that recreates the essence of tiger - you can feel the muscles rippling and feel its purring. Beautiful pieces on this album.
