Play Button Digest (Acoustic) by Ben Taylor

"The best of James Taylor and Carly Simon's prodigy. Soulful melody with a clear, crisp sound; He pulls off rainy day tunes perfectly."

THE YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT JUDGING BOOKS REC
  from jkomoros

Play Button Liar's Smile by Jeff Bell

"Not going to lie, based on his picture, I thought Jeff Bell was going to be just some mediocre street musician. Well, that's clearly not the case. Liar's Smile is simple but really engaged me on a fundamental level. Great song!"

THE ROAD TO A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE HAS NEVER BEEN SMOOTHER REC
  from Elias

Elias

Play Button Bite The Dust by Matilda Thompson

"This is probably what I get for drinking soy milk, but between Matilda and Gabriella, I feel like I just added a new favorite genre. Her voice is awesome and I can imagine a young and sassy Pink feeling comfortable behind this song."

Play Button That’s When I Reach For My Revolver by Mission of Burma

"it's 'that's when i reach for my revolver'. seriously, you need an explanation?"

THE SERIOUSLY, WHO DOES DO DICTION ANYMORE? REC
  from ClaraInes

Claralnes

Play Button Your Lips Are Red by St. Vincent

"i love the deliberate vaudeville color of this piece. the off-center, unequal lengths of each thought, the disconcerting interruptive percussion, the way it builds in intensity but always within a very narrow threshold, which makes the impact all the more fierce. also love how she sounds like she's had some classical training - there is a roundness and depth to her voice that is everything but amateur - yet it has such character, doesn't get caught up in just sounding pretty (she has great diction. who does diction these days?!). the whole album is great. with sentences that go in directions you never expected, and each song has quite a distinctive sound...love it."

THE NORWAY: 1 ROMANTICISM: 0 REC
  from ebquick

ebquick

Play Button The North Wind by Hanne Hukkelberg

"There is ecstasy in this song that would make Wordsworth wet himself. A meticulous, methodical, mystical conjuring of nature through words and music."

THE "HELLO, IS SEYMORE THERE?" REC
  from imcphee

imcphee

Play Button 4 Better Or 4 Worse by The Pharcyde

"The most hideous and hilariously postmodern song about hip-hop, featuring a prank call from your cannibalistic id. I dare you not to love this song."

THE STILL CAN'T PRINT IT IN THE TIMES REC
  from apollo

apollo

Play Button Drinking Artist by Fuck

"What a great song. It is slow and melodic, great guitar, and an amazing voice. This is a great band, and at a bargain. I am surpised they arn't more popular. Great sound, great voice, and a totally cool name."
