New Music Wednesday
We're incredibly excited -- juiced, as one of our founders might say -- to bring you a selection of great new music today.
First off are the Cold War Kids, a
relatively young band with the following and press of superstars.
For a quick introduction, or to listen again to that song you
already love:
Hang Me Up To Dry
.
Don't miss the album that Rolling Stone calls "gorgeous."
Next are the British rockers Art Brut, currently on tour
in the U.S. with the Hold Steady. Their pumping post-punk propelled
their first album to critical success, and now we're thrilled to
bring you their sophomore release, featuring upcoming single
Direct Hit
.
Rather than quoting any magazines, we'll just say that Ghostface calls it "really raw, dawg":
Now, the immortal Shaggy. If you don't
remember his singles "Boombastic" or "It Wasn't Me," hopefully
you're at least living under a comfortable rock. His new album
brings together reggae, dancehall, R&B, and pop, and features
Collie Buddz and Akon. Check out the bumping title track,
Intoxication
.
Very fantastic!
A fan of House, M.D.? Then you'll know that one of the show's
strengths is great music in almost every episode. From the theme,
Teardrop (Theme Song)
by Massive Attack, to Joe Cocker's classic
Feelin’ Alright
, the soundtrack is packed with hits.
It's a lot more upbeat than Hugh Laurie:
The Blue
Scholars saw a great response on Amie Street to their first
album, Bayani, and now they're back with an EP of new
tracks, remixes, and instrumentals for all you aspiring emcees. For
a taste of what they're working on for the next full-length, check
out
Southbound
.
Laid back as ever:
And finally (phew!), Jupiter Rising. This
duo's catchy dancefloor pop has brought the comparison to Nelly
Furtado/Timbaland and the Black Eyed Peas. The bubbly title track
off their album,
Electropop
, will get you out of your
seat in no time.
See what all the fuss is about!
That's all from us - enjoy the music, and till next time!
