Elvis Perkins in Dearland

On Elvis Perkins In Dearland, Elvis Perkins makes the transition from intimate songsmith to charismatic bandleader. With adventurous, fleshed-out arrangements that subtly incorporate fanfare brass and New Orleans jazz, this album features a more upbeat sound than his melancholy debut Ash Wednesday. Grab the album one week early on Amie Street, with a free download of "Shampoo"!

Angus & Julia Stone

Recently named one of the "10 New Artists To Watch in 2009" by Paste Magazine, Australian brother-sister duo Angus & Julia Stone create warm, soothing folk-pop. Prior to their collaboration, both had been pursuing solo careers; when they joined forces in 2006, they quickly became one of the most popular folk acts in Australia. The group's first full-length, A Book Like This, showcases the wonderful blend of Angus's smokey croon and Julia's vulnerable whisper, with Filter saying "in the moments they meld together, it's easy to forget everything you know about sibling rivalry."

For fans of: Damien Rice + The Weepies + Joanna Newsom

The Antlers

The Antlers

When Peter Silberman moved to Manhattan in 2006, he disappeared from friends and family for over a year. Hospice is his explanation and memoir of that period, and marks The Antlers' first official release (after free, self-released recordings that were fawned over by blogs). Robin Hilton, producer of NPR's All Songs Considered, calls it the best album of 2009 so far, saying "[it's] one of the most beautiful and moving works I've heard in a long, long time. Just astonishing." Start by picking up a free download of "Two"!

For fans of: Shearwater + Antony and the Johnsons + Jeff Buckley

Molly Jenson

Molly Jenson

Most musicians know just how difficult it is to launch a career, but Molly Jenson seems to be doing it with ease. Before she even released an album, Jenson won "Best Acoustic Act" at the San Diego Music Awards and had her songs featured on NBC and the CW. Her debut album, Maybe Tomorrow, was produced by Greg Laswell (Ingrid Michaelson , Anya Marina, Minnie Driver) and features Jenson's bubbly pop-rock, including a special duet with Switchfoot lead singer Jon Foreman.

For fans of: Sheryl Crow + The Cardigans + Jonatha Brooke

Foghat

Foghat

Live from the Long Island Blues Warehouse radio show, this album features legendary blues-rockers Foghat tearing through a raw studio performance. Including the immortal "Slow Ride" and their cover of Willie Dixon's "I Just Want To Make Love To You," as well as six other fan favorites, this'll get you rockin' like it's 1979.

For fans of: Grand Funk Railroad + REO Speedwagon + the Dazed & Confused soundtrack

Seth Walker

Seth Walker

Seth Walker's Leap Of Faith is full of classic blues and R&B. Steeped in American roots music, Walker's guitar playing is equal parts T-Bone Walker and B.B. King; blues legend Taj Mahal once called Walker "a little, white Ray Charles" for his soulful vocal delivery. Whether it's blues shuffles, swing ballads, or New Orleans funk, Walker's got it covered like he's been doing it for years.

For fans of: Randy Newman + Ray Charles + B.B. King

Romeo

Romeo

The son of No Limit rapper Master P, Romeo is blazing his own path in hip hop. In 2001, he broke Michael Jackson's record for the youngest artist with a #1 R&B/Hip Hop hit single, and now he's back with his fifth album Get Low. Featuring guest stars like Akon, Bobby Valentino, and Marques Houston, this album shows Romeo doing his own thing and keeping the No Limit tanks rolling in '09.

For fans of: Master P + Silkk The Shocker + Rich Boyz

The Whip

The Whip

NME calls Manchester electro band The Whip "the best thing to happen to dance music since LCD Soundsystem." The deluxe re-release of their debut adds remixes by Crookers, The Bloody Beetroots, Shinichi Osawa, and Bitchee Ya Ya Ya, as well as a live version of their biggest hit, "Trash," exclusive to Amie Street!

For fans of: Simian Mobile Disco + The Faint + Crystal Castles
