The BPA Diplo Benjy Ferree
The Heartless Bastards The Phantom Band Josh Wink

The BPA

The BPA is the newest project of DJ/producer Norman Cook (best known as Fatboy Slim), who's been rocking dancefloors since the end of the '80s. He's had mega-hits like "The Rockefeller Skank," "Praise You," and "Weapon of Choice," and I Think We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat is undoubtedly going to keep Cook in the clubs. With cheery guest spots from artists like David Byrne, Iggy Pop, Dizzee Rascal, and Martha Wainwright, this is just the album to get you through the rest of winter.

For fans of: Fatboy Slim + The Chemical Brothers + Propellerheads

Diplo

Diplo

With high-profile remixes for Justin Timberlake, Hot Chip, and Kanye West, as well as production work for M.I.A. and Santogold, Diplo has become one of the most respected DJs in the world. His childhood in the Southern U.S. and visits to Brazil heavily influenced his music, which combines crunk, Miami bass, baile funk, and instrumental hip-hop, all of which get the spotlight in Decent Work For Decent Pay. In addition to four solo tracks, this compilation includes pounding remixes of Spank Rock, Bonde Do RolĂȘ, and Black Lips to keep any party going late.

For fans of: M.I.A. + Ghislain Poirier + Spank Rock

Benjy Ferree

Benjy Ferree's music is difficult to categorize. Come Back To The Five And Dime, Bobby Dee Bobby Dee is a musical eulogy to the forgotten child star Bobby Driscoll -- the star of Disney's 1953 film Peter Pan -- that Rolling Stone describes as "weirdo concept rock... like Broadway gone bonkers." If you never thought you'd hear indie rock, show tunes, and blues in the same song, then make sure to check out this record -- Ferree does it with style!

For fans of: The White Stripes + Queen + The Temptations

Heartless Bastards

The Heartless Bastards

Break-ups have always been an important inspiration in rock n' roll, and Erika Wennerstrom of The Heartless Bastards is an expert on the subject. Prior to recording The Mountain, Wennerstrom broke up with her longtime boyfriend/bassist, Mike Lamping, and moved from her home state of Ohio to Austin, Texas. The album inspired by these events is a remarkable garage-blues achievement that Spin calls "a collection of salty, rousing rock n' roll that'll leave you aching for a roadhouse, a sticky bar stool, and a chipped glass of bourbon."

For fans of: The Black Keys + Patti Smith + The Duke Spirit

The Phantom Band

The Phantom Band

The Phantom Band has been an elusive and peculiar band since their inception. In addition to having a reputation for name changes (they've called themselves Robert Louis Stevenson, Robert Redford, Los Crayzee Boyz, Tower of Girls, and Wooden Trees), the band has become legendary for their absurd stage antics, often playing in disguise and inviting fans to exercise on a Stairmaster. On Checkmate Savage the group showcases their carefree attitude and their seamless blend of krautrock and alt-country; NME says, "while it may not be the most anticipated release to come out of Glasgow this month [Franz Ferdinand], Checkmate Savage is far and away the most intriguing."

For fans of: The Beta Band + Kraftwerk + The Fall

Josh Wink

Philadelphia DJ Josh Wink has said that his music involves "mistake theory," or the idea of embracing the results of heavy experimentation. Influenced by techno and Chicago house, Wink plays with almost every effect and setting on his equipment to keep his tracks fresh and interesting, often with results that he didn't expect. Despite all the theory, he encourages fans to throw away their preconceptions when listening to his new album: "I miss the innocence of how [music] was when I was growing up... Like when a banana was just a banana."

For fans of: Carl Cox + King Britt + Armand Van Helden
