New Feature: Playlists

December 15th, 2008

Amie Street playlists have been around for a minute, but we've just revamped the feature and hopefully made it much easier for you to find and share your favorite music!

You'll find the new Playlists section in our nav bar above, right next to the blog:

To get started, create your own playlist wherever you see individual songs on Amie Street:

You can now rate and buy full playlists, share with your friends, or send as a gift to anyone with an email address.

Playlists can also be edited in our new library player, where you can drag, drop, and reorder songs:

We've created a few of our own to give you ideas, but we know you'll make better ones. Make sure to set them to "Public" when they're ready to go, and have fun!

I love Amie Street and would love to discover and purchase a lot of new music, but I keep getting a lot of “Territory Restriction” songs.

In this day and age, I cannot comprehend why artists would choose to disallow me to pay for their music, regardless of where I live. It’s mind-boggling and I hope you are encouraging artists to make their music available for purchase around the world.

However, artists are not only to blame. Amie Street is also to blame. For example, the song “Mary Did You Know” by Acappella is apparently not available for purchase in Canada. Yet the very same song is available for purchase in the Canadian iTunes store. Why is this the case?

Please try to make more music available for purchase by Canadian users. I love the site but I just get frustrated when I discover new music that I want to purchase but can’t. You’ve got a fantastic model for purchasing music, yet it’s experiences like this that still drives me to pirate music. It’s unfortunate that user experience for legally obtaining music still trails behind the simplicity of pirating music.
