Netweight Records Presents: The Solution

July 7th, 2007
The Solution

The Solution: a collaboration between MC Amad Jamal and producer Brisk One brings back conscious hip-hop that doesn't take itself too seriously to generate some ass shakin'. Hitting the sparsely treaded middle ground between conscious/boring as hell and blatantly blinged out brainless drivel, the name of this project might just be a hint at what they're aiming for.

Play Button Believe That feat. Dilated Peoples

covers all the bases: chunky-huge beats and a catchy piano line ready for the club with lyricism that steps well beyond "This is why I'm hot." Hip-hop is alive and well, but you'll have to come to Amie Street if you want it. ;)

Confronting any act trying to come with cookie cutter formulas for marketing executives, Play Button B.I.T.*.H. (Back In The House) (

) breaks it down with scalpel precise lyricism and an MPC freaked vocal that adds some melody to Amad Jamal's street-gravel punchlines. The alliteration and cadence focused delivery on this track is enough to make any would-be verbal opponent think three times before trying to come back at the airtight message on this banger. Once again the beats and rhythmic precision of the verses are ready for the club if any DJ wants to drop this wax on Saturday night.

Need a little education on why most of the radio stations in your hood play the same ol' same ol' ? Check the collab between Netweight Records label-mate Enee One and the original hip-hop prophet, KRS-One to get up to speed Play Button Radio (No Matter What You Do) feat. KRS-ONE (
