Label Spotlight: Output Recordings

A close look at our back catalog has revealed this gem: a compilation of artists from London's now-defunct Output Recordings, curated by Trevor Jackson (aka the electroclash DJ Playgroup).
Especially notable tracks are LCD Soundsystem's first single
from 2002,
Losing My Edge
, and the original full-length mix of
The Rapture's excellent
Olio (Full Length Version)
-- only available on
this album!
Another welcome addition is a Zongamin remix of Playgroup:
Make It Happen (Zongamin Remix)
features the bongos that landed Zongamin a spot on
Annie's DJ-Kicks and Spank Rock's mix for Fabric
Live.
The compilation is definitely worth a listen start to finish, especially as most of these artists have only grown in popularity since its release; for more information visit the official website.
All in all it's an extremely solid collection, called by NME "one excellent CD of proselytising punk-funk and synthetic mutant disco."
Rest in peace Output: we hardly knew ye!

The link doesn’t seem to work for me. I can find channel 4, but not channel 2…

Take a listen to KATE WAX - Beetles & Spider
Output
10″ //
With a back-history that comes across like a PR mans wet-dream, Kate Wax is half-European/half-Tibetan and currently resides in Geneva where she writes and produces music that flits between electro, grime, punk, techno and all manner of minimal excursions. Whilst that list might raise the unwelcome specter of the Prodigy, Kate Wax manages to massage them into a whole that is neither contrived nor awkward - wherein some blasé rapping can segue seamlessly into a tender lament. Carrying a limited mantle and newly signed to Hairy Jackson’s Output imprint, both ‘Beetles and Spiders’ and ‘Choose They Croon’ manage to be both head and foot tooled - with elements of each swinging from the tender to the raucous without seemingly breaking a sweat. Evolving images of Cabaret Voltaire getting pissed with Lily Allen and Peaches in a Cologne nightclub, this is a 10″ that will breach genre boundaries without drowning you. Wax on, wax off!

I’m with thisfred…I want to check out the whole album, but I can’t get to it. I think the link is bad and when I search the site for “output,” all I get is the Channel 4 album.
