by legendary underground hip-hop producer J Dilla (aka Jay Dee). Behind the scenes for most of his career, J Dilla was one of the most highly regarded producers in all of hip-hop. Throughout his years in the biz he worked with many notable artists including The Pharcyde, De La Soul, Common, Janet Jackson, Q-Tip, Ahmir "?eustlove" Thompson, D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, and Talib Kweli among others. Donuts, his final album featuring 31 instrumental tracks, was completed while he was in the hospital and was released on his 32nd birthday -- just three days before his tragic death. Though a rare blood disease took its toll on J's health, it never did on his work. Listening to this record will make it clear why Pharrell Williams (of The Neptunes) proclaimed J Dilla his favorite producer in the game.
