Amie Street is bringing you not one, but two albums from
Washington D.C. based rapper Blu Rum 13: Vaguely
Familiar and Smell The Urgency.
foreshadows the experimental nature of
Smell The Urgency
featuring
Blu Rum
13's signature lyrical style and quirky production.
Letter Twenty Five
(
) begins with
a sample of Eddie Murphy telling a joke about James Brown,
Open Shutters
(
) is dark and
jazzy, and
Yeast Confection
(
) has a raw beat.
features artistic and experimental beats and production with
playful introductions and samples throughout. On tunes like
wobbly stiltz
(
) and
deviantdiction
(
),
Blu Rum 13 showcases his
laid back spoken-word influenced style. He also gets experimental
on
futuristic b-boys
(
)
using beat-boxing as the foundation for the track.

Letter 25 has rocked more crowds than previously thought possible, and is brought to you by the letter “Y”
the James brown joke… is a reference to the artist James aka BluRum13
produced by UK Hip Hop Icon Mr. Thing, the man with the world recognized Sneaker collection. The album Vaguely Familiar was my first release on DJ Vadim’s Jazz Fudge Records, it features various production and quirky sound bites.
Smell the Urgency was produced entirely by Luke Vibert, and was written around the same time as Vaguely Familiar, recorded a bit later. It has a more lucid experimental feel and a whole lot of flows. My exes love this record.
