Artist Spotlight: Tu Fawning
Joe Haege and Corrina Repp started playing separately in the Portland area, eventually deciding to merge their talents for a new project: Tu Fawning. Their recently released debut EP Secession brings eager fans of both Haege and Repp something new to love.
Their style is a clash of classic Led Zeppelin and a hint of Evanescence, with fellow bandmates Liza Reitz and Toussaint Perrault contributing horns and strings. The overall mix really works: even among the strong vocals you can pick out the individual zest of each instrument.
Tiptoe
is a great introduction, really playing
into the talent of the band members.
Out Like Bats
is an
easy single -- catchy but not in the traditional pop radio sense.
The songs are almost done in hymn and each song is quite different
from the next, yet still bears the Tu Fawning touch.
Creeping a little into the darker side,
Diamond In The Forest
has an eerie yet calming sound to it. The lyrics and repetitive
beat make this song really stand out on the album.
Tu Fawning's songs are lyrically and instrumentally created with just the right amount of beat to give anyone chills.
