Artist Spotlight: Shortwave Dahlia
February 7th, 2008

A quartet from Memphis, TN, Shortwave Dahlia combine the dark synth-pop of Depeche Mode and The Cure with clean, upbeat electronica. Many Amie Street users are already all over the band, so check out their RECs after the break!
From our very first RECs of the Week:
You're in a convertible or you're riding your bike, along the shore, the twilight air is sweet, the breeze is smooth, the sky looks like it was painted by an impressionist brush, you're light, you're calm, you're dreamy, the life is beautiful in such a moment? This is your soundtrack. It's a pity it lasts only 8:08, a "club mix" is hereby officially requested. [rec by Shinonome]
Additional RECs:
distorted guitar up against a slow and steady beat with great lyrics. perfect mix of tension from distorted guitars played against synth. Give it a good listen! [rec by robert waddington]
Dark, echoing bass that sweeps you through the opening of the song, then a switchover to electronica as small bursts of sunlight break through the gloom and lead you out of the chaos and despair and into another challenge of your life.! [rec by roguepuppet]
Had to see what all the fuss was about! Thanks Roguepuppet. Had to pick one to rec, and this song here is a psychedelic groove in a tribal beat with a whole lot being said about our world today. Brilliant. Rec'd [rec by mrbhayn]
