Artist Spotlight: Sherwood

March 26th, 2008

Sherwood

Sherwood are a four-piece power pop band from San Luis Obispo, CA, who name Jimmy Eat World and the Beach Boys as major influences. They even quote Brian Wilson on their website, saying "Songs are the most honest form of human expression; there's nothing that lies about a song." Check out some selections from their album Sing, But Keep Going after the break!

Sherwood isn't breaking any rules on this record, but instead they've created an incredibly tight album with very few holes. I have a ton of respect for the band for staying true to a style of music and making it as good as possible. ... If you have even a pinch of a pop-rock sweet tooth, you're going to love this record. “a powerful pop rock opener to the "debut" of sherwood onto sidecho records. catchy, quick and sincere, this track is one of the most "stuck-in-headable" songs they've come up with. most excellent!”
