Artist Spotlight: Luke Brindley / Brindley Brothers
Gin Blossoms fans, listen up: the Brindley Brothers have got a record for you. Amplifier Magazine calls their sophomore release "unabashedly American music, offered straight up without regard to fad or fashion," and its tracks have been used in national campaigns for Coca-Cola, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Polo.
Called "droningly beautiful" by one user,
Everybody Wants
is a nice example of the bittersweet emotion in this
album. Like the Goo Goo Dolls with less makeup, the Brindley
Brothers sing about things like "restless hunger" and "dark dreams"
without succumbing to melodrama, and produce some great lines about
hard relationships: "If you wanna gamble / Atlantic City got
nothin' on me."
Luke Brindley has also released a solo record, which is picking up praise from the singer/songwriter community as well as Amie Street fans:
"A nice, easy listen. Guitar, piano, and some brass on this for accompaniment. The lyrics remind me of Bruce Cockburn with a slightly scratchier but just as honest voice." [rec by thebaglady608]
And although Luke says it's not really his style, he was asked to be in a Ralph Lauren video for their fall '07 Rugby collection -- check out his performance and a quick tour of Georgetown/DC on the Ralph Lauren website.
