Album Spotlight: Sigur Ros

Icelandic post-rock quartet Sigur Rós are experiencing some of their largest mainstream attention today, featured on the front page of YouTube (which gets nearly 50 million pageviews a day) and offering their full-length film Heima to be streamed for free. After the break, watch the trailer for the sprawlingly beautiful film and check out a couple tracks from the companion album!
Heima (Icelandic for "at home" or "homeland") follows Sigur Rós during the summer of 2006, when they performed a number of free, unannounced concerts, ranging from small community halls to their largest-ever gig in Reykjavik.
Directed by Dean Deblois, the film features songs from all four Sigur Rós albums, and in the words of the band, reveals Iceland as a "desolate, magical place where human beings have little right to trespass."
