Group Description
UE is short for Upper Echelon. The textbook definition of Echelon is as follows:
ech•e•lon P Pronunciation Key ( sh -l n )
n. A level of responsibility or authority in a hierarchy; a rank: a job in the company's upper echelon.
We use this catch phrase, Upper Echelon to signify a higher level of awareness in our music, and ultimately in our state of mind. This level of awareness separates us from the pool pit of regurgitated and recycled music that continues to be funneled through the hip hop industry. We believe that the majority of Hip Hop artists in the present time are too insecure to express their true human experiences to the public through their art. Their fear of exposing their most sincere moments of human emotion and experience, which can potentially harm their image and have the listener view them as weak, leads them to taking the safe route. This safe route is often seen in the form of self- aggrandization of their financial status and displaying a sense of excessive ego. These artists feel that the average listener is drawn to these topics, because it creates a world of unattainable fantasy, and subconsciously makes the listener glorify the artist that has reached this level of financial status. However, UE takes the complete opposite route. They believe that expressing true human experience, and saying the things that people are often afraid to say out loud but always feel inside, is what truly reaches the soul of the listener. The price that UE is willing to pay to reach the soul of the listener is their vulnerability. They expose their weaknesses as men and as human beings so that the listener can relate to them on their level. Yet, they acknowledge and express their limitless potential to reach the state of superior men, as a way to lift the listener higher from their present state and discover the infinite strength within them.
Tragedy to Triumph Album Bio
UE’s most recent work is an album titled “Tragedy 2 Triumph.” This album takes you on the journey of 2 young men as they attempt to pick up the pieces of 2 similar tragedies that happened in a parallel time frame in each of their lives. The songs on the album ultimately tell a story of how life breaks you down only to build you back up. When listening to the album, the listener should be ready to transverse the spectrum of human emotion that makes life intolerable, incredible, unbearable, beautiful, and unpredictable all at once. The ultimate goal of the album is to tie together our tragedies and triumphs, or our losses and successes, in a way that the listener understands that they are codependent on each other.
The album was produced by both members of UE, therefore it maintains a unique and consistent sound throughout the whole album. This 1 year album project, where both members spent sleepless nights to perfect the concept, feel and sound of the album is the group’s masterpiece. All 15 tracks on the album have been meticulously designed to add color to the concept of the “Tragedy 2 Triumph” album, and carefully illustrate the evolution that a human being must go through during the road of success.
