The Crash Engine

Formed from the ashes of the acoustic guitar trio “Here On Out” the Crash Engine began in the sleepy college town of Eugene Oregon where singer Alex Heller met guitarist Tom Dawson. There the teenagers cut their teeth playing strictly all ages venues, eventually graduating to larger clubs. After releasing two EPs and touring the western states with southern California indie rockers Respira (who’s bass player and singer went on to form Amestory) the band was approached by producer Loren Israel (Plain White Tees) and signed a brief development deal. The band then relocated to Portland, Oregon and recorded their first full length album “Extravagaria.” Soon after, they enlisted the talents of drummer Dana Rapley and evolved from a four piece to a trio with singer Alex Heller switching from guitar to bass. In 2007 the band caught the attention of Deep Elm Records (The Appleseed Cast, Brandtson) who featured the song “The Sky Retreats” on their famous Emo Diaries compilation. The Crash Engine has been touring since January 08, introducing the United States to its unique sound which bridges the gap between indie rock, emo-punk, northwest grunge and melodic pop.
