Picture Books in Winter

Picture Books in Winter formed in Cardiff in October 2007. They make indie-pop music using guitars, a violin and occasionally a cello.

The 5 members of Picture Books in Winter met each other while at university in Cardiff. All 5 members had spent time making music together in the past but it wasn't until autumn of 2007 that they decided to form a band properly and turn the ideas they'd been playing with into actual songs. In October of that year the band recorded their first set of demo recordings which attracted the attention of Radio 1 DJ Bethan Elfyn.

The band went on to play their first live gig in December of 2007 in Cardiff's Dempseys. Shortly after that they went on to record a live session for Radio 1 which they followed up with a string of well recieved live appearances and a further set of Demo recordings.

In June of 2008 Picture Books in Winter made their debut festival appearance playing the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury Festival.
