An enchanting album. In Jess Hill’s songsare many shades of Gillian Welch, Cat Power, Gracie Potter & the Noturnals, K.T. Tunstall, Robyn Ludwick. Each song is an adventure.

Mesmerizing...hard to stop putting it on repeat once it captures you.

Vaguely like a jazzy/bluesier Michelle Shocked, Jess Hill can belt it while keeping you mesmorized by twangy pickin' and slide guitar. Then there's the rain...

This should really be categorized as alt-country and/or blues... it is folk and alternative from the norm, but with that soulful voice, crying guitar, and mournful harmonica, it is blues first. And oh so good.
