Eli "Paperboy" Reed and the True Loves On the Web
Eli "Paperboy" Reed and the True Loves' Bio
Eli "Paperboy" Reed is a gifted young soul singer/guitarist and songwriter. His songs evoke great American music of the past while retaining a modern flair and youthful energy. This is due in no small part to the True Loves; the fiery 7-piece band that his sound is built on.
In 2005, he released his debut, Eli "Paperboy" Reed Sings Walkin' and Talkin' and Other Smash Hits. Recorded in mono in just one day, "Walkin' and Talkin" has been referred to as a "throw back record thrown forward that's realy f*cking good" That same year, he won Best R&B act in the WFNX / Boston Phoenix Best Music Poll and was nominated for Best Rhythm & Blues Act at the Boston Music Awards the following year.
In 2006, Eli and the band released a follow-up EP entitled "Roll With You". The song of the same name was featured on Salon.com's 'Song of the Week' where it garnered huge praise from Death Cab For Cutie's Chris Walla: "It's a testament to the beautiful thing that can happen when a group is both talented and studied: The Ahmet-era Atlantic R&B idioms are right on; the recording is spectacularly live (and mono); the key change is seamless; Eli's vocal is both relaxed and convincing; and, most important, the song is awesome."
After a successful trip to Austin's famed South by Southwest Music Festival, Eli and The True Loves are back in the studio recording their debut for Q Division Records to be released later this year. The current single, "Take My Love With You" b/w "(Am I Just) Fooling Myself" is currently available on iTunes. The band will be touring this summer behind their new single, "The Satisfier" which comes out in June.
