Emma Cook

In 2007 Emma received the highest grant awarded to a solo artist from the Ontario Arts Council for her second album “Hit & Run.” In just a few short months after it’s Canadian release, four of the singles off of the album have been played on radio stations across the country and received glowing reviews from both media and fans. The album showcases some fabulous musicians, including trumpet, cello and fiddle, with more complex arrangements and an obviously honed song-writing style. The wide range of songs on the album appeal to fans of folk, alt country, rock and singer/songwriter – with such diversity Emma truly showcases her own unique style of Indie Folk. Most recently Emma was nominated for a 2008 Toronto Independent Music Award, Best Blues category.

Emma began touring in June 2008 to promote the album, with a headlining gig at the Sunshine Festival in Vernon, B.C. and dates at Toronto’s Hugh’s Room, Wakefields Black Sheep Inn, and the Bitter End in New York City. Plans are underway to release “Hit & Run” in the United States in early 2009 and will include a national tour.

Emma has played official showcases at Toronto’s Indie Week, NXNE, Canadian Music Week, the Skylark Folk Series in NYC and has headlined numerous shows across Canada. She continues to win over audiences with her suburb song-writing, intricate guitar and on stage charisma.
